PROVINCE GUIDE

Ontario online casino guide

Ontario is the only Canadian province with a competitive online casino market - and the model the rest of the country watches.

The regulator

iGaming Ontario, run by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO), launched on April 4, 2022. Operators register with the AGCO and list on the iGaming Ontario site. If an operator is not on that register, it is not authorized here.

What is available

A competitive field of 70-plus registered brands offers slots, table games, live dealer and often sports betting under one licence. Competition means better bonuses and features - but it also means more advertising to filter.

Scale and maturity

By its 2024-25 reporting, the market handled about $82.7 billion in wagers and generated roughly $2.9 billion in gaming revenue, up more than 30% year over year. It is no longer an experiment; it is the largest regulated market in the country.

Payments and verification

Interac, Instadebit and card routes are common, with CAD settlement standard. Expect KYC at registration and again at first withdrawal. Credit-card deposits are allowed but the province and operators encourage limits.

REMINDER

One authorized option

Ontario also tightened advertising rules in 2025, urging media to avoid promoting unlicensed operators - a useful signal of which brands are actually authorized.
