LEARN THE GAME
Blackjack
Blackjack is the rare casino game where decisions change the odds. Played well, the house edge can fall under 0.5% - which is exactly why the rules variations matter so much.
The basic loop
You decide to hit, stand, double or split; the dealer acts last and must draw to 16 and stand on 17. Getting close to 21 without going over beats the dealer. That simplicity hides a lot of rule detail.Rules that move the edge
A 3:2 blackjack payout, dealer standing on soft 17, and allowed doubling after split all help you. A 6:5 payout, dealer hitting soft 17, and restricted splits all hurt. The same game can range from great to poor on rules alone.Variants you will meet
European (dealer hole card dealt after you act), American (hole card up front), and live dealer versions. Single and double deck usually carry stricter rules; multi-deck is standard online.Basic strategy is free
The mathematically correct play for every hand is published and free. Using it is the single biggest thing you can do; ignoring it hands the house extra edge for no reason.CHECKLIST
